On Thursday, India’s playing XI for the World Test Championship final versus New Zealand was revealed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The final XI comprised Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Shami, who had not played in the last Test against England.

Jasprit Bumrah was released from the squad ahead of the final match of the four-game series because he was set to marry sports presenter Sanjana Ganesan. Jadeja was out with a shoulder injury during the home Test series against England earlier this year, and Jasprit Bumrah was released from the squad ahead of the final match of the four-game series.

Shubman Gill, who performed admirably in the intra-squad match at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton, has been selected Rohit Sharma’s opening partner.
As predicted, Cheteshar Pujara, skipper Virat Kohli, and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane will follow the openers.

Rishabh Pant, who has been in excellent form recently, was chosen ahead of Wriddhiman Saha for the wicketkeeper’s position.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will lead India’s spin attack, while Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Ishant Sharma will lead the pace attack.

Shami was chosen ahead of Mohammed Siraj, who missed seven Tests after receiving a severe injury to his hand when facing Pat Cummins in Adelaide.
Hanuma Vihari, Siraj, Umesh Yadav, and Wriddhiman Saha were among the players that were left out of the 15-man roster announced on Tuesday.

Virat Kohli (c), Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah make up India’s XI.
