Most of Uttarakhand’s 13 districts, as well as parts of Himachal Pradesh, have issued a red alert warning of heavy to extremely heavy rain. The news comes less than 24 hours after Uttarakhand’s State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) issued a similar warning.

The SDRF forecast severe to very heavy rain over Uttarakhand between July 19 and July 21, according to a statement released on Sunday.

Following a cloudburst in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district on Sunday, three persons perished and another four were reported missing. The event occurred in Mando village, according to SDRF Inspector Jagdamba Prasad.

On the instructions of SDRF commander Navneet Singh Bhullar, a total of 28 teams have been deployed around the state to cope with any eventualities.

Over the next 72 hours, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for isolated severe to very heavy rainfall in Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura.

Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, western Uttar Pradesh and northwest Madhya Pradesh, northeast Rajasthan, north Konkan, Bihar, and portions of West Bengal have all received similar forecasts.

Parts of Himachal Pradesh are also expected to get a lot of rain. For the past 24 hours, Shimla has been drenched in torrential rain.

The state of Rajasthan has issued a red warning for four districts: Kangda, Bilaspur, Mandi, and Sirmaur. The meteorological service has also issued an orange signal for Himachal Pradesh’s remaining eight districts.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur has issued a warning to all district officials. Tourists visiting the state have also been given a warning. Tourists should avoid rivers and lakes due to the risk of landslides, according to the advice.

After their car plunged into a canyon during a landslide in Himachal Pradesh on Monday, a lady died and her husband and son went missing. The event occurred in the state’s Chamba district, at Dunali on Bharmour road.

“The western end of monsoon trough at mean sea level continues to run close to its normal position and is likely to shift gradually northwards from 20th July,” IMD said on Monday.
