Over Gangetic West Bengal and the surrounding territories, cyclonic circulation exists. Several portions of North Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal may get widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rains during the next 2-3 days as a result of its effect. The Southwest Monsoon is active over Odisha, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

In the last 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall has fallen in several parts of north and south Odisha. According to the IMD, heavy rain is expected in one or two areas over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara Jajpur, and Dhenkanal in the next 24 hours.

“Squally weather with surface wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is quite expected over North Bay of Bengal and the neighboring central Bay of Bengal until June 18 due to steep pressure gradient and strong monsoon flow,” stated IMD in a release.

In the early hours of June 18th, heavy rainfall is quite likely to occur in one or two locations across the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara Jajpur, and Dhenkanal.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers is quite likely to occur in most locations over the districts of north-central Odisha, as well as many locations over the districts of north coastal Odisha and a few locations over the districts of south Odisha.

Over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Boudh, heavy rainfall is extremely likely to occur at one or two locations.
