India has added 24, 882 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours – the largest daily increase in the last 83 days – to the 1.13 cases of crore, which the Ministry of Health has revealed this morning. As the country reported 23,285 cases, the number of new infections is almost 7% higher than Friday. In total, the government has today revised 1,1333728  cases in India since the outbreak a year ago.

India recorded 140 deaths related to the virus in the last 24 hours, raising the cumulative number of deaths to 1,58,446.

The active caseload in the country has crossed 2,02,022, accounting for 1.74 percent of all infections. The rate of recovery plummeted to 96.82 percent.

Today’s number of infections is the largest daily increase since December 20, when there were 26,624 new infections reported.

According to the government, Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu account for 85.6 percent of new incidents. “Five states are responsible for 82.96 percent of all active cases in the world. The spike in Covid-19 cases in India has been registered from six states in the last five days, including Maharashtra, where authorities have declared a weeklong lockdown in the heavily populated Nagpur city next week, as well as restrictions in other areas. Five states account for 82.96 percent of the country’s overall active incidents.

Eight counties, according to the health ministry, are seeing an increase in daily new cases. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Haryana are among these states.

On the other hand, India crossed a major milestone on Friday in its national COVID-19 vaccination program, which began on January 16, 2021. On Day 56 of the world’s biggest vaccination campaign, over 20 lakh vaccine doses were delivered in 30,561 sessions.

This is, according to reports, the largest single-day vaccine administration ever. Eight states accounted for 74 percent of the 20,53,537 vaccine doses given out in the previous 24 hours, with Uttar Pradesh leading the list of over 3.3 lakh doses.
