The Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (JNKVV), Jabalpur has introduced new advance variety of wheat MP 1378.

JNKVV vice chancellor Dr. Pramod Kumar Mishra’s inspiration and under guidance of director of research services Dr. G.K. Koutu, the agricultural scientists are preparing new seeds to double the income of the farmers.

And also the scientists are working hard continuously to improve the seeds varieties of different crops.

The University’s scientists have developed an improved variety of wheat, M.P. 1378 has been developed and gifted to the farmers.

In fact, the Zonal Agricultural Research Center Powerkheda functioning under Jawaharlal Nehru Krish Vishwavidyalaya, is a leader in wheat research in the state and the country.

The Centre has developed an improved variety of wheat, MP. 1378.

This variety will not only give high production, but is also rich in important nutrients like zinc and iron. Iron and zinc are present more than 40 (ppm) in it.

This species is highly resistant to brown and black rust.

The production capacity of this species is about 10% more than the prevalent species.

For this reason, this species is notified by the ICAR New Delhi for 15 years for production in farmers’ fields across the country.

Field Director and Wheat Coordinator Dr. R.S.Shukla told that the special thing about this variety is that it is disease resistant at low altitude, rich in nutrients and is excellent for biscuits and rotis.

Its height is up to 88 cm and duration is 120 days. The variety production capacity is 66 quintals per hectare.

The credit for this success goes to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. P.K. Mishra’s hundred percent goes to his inspiration and research approach.
