Media reports reveal shocking incident some girls reported that outsiders and police officers were permitted to access the building a hostel under the cover of undertaking an investigation then few police officers and other men reportedly coerced girls to undress and dance at the Maharashtra Jalgaon government-run hostel. The fiasco happened at the Ashadeep Women’s Hostel in the city of Jalgaon.

The matter received buzz after BJP MLA Shweta Mahale of Buldhana’s Chikhli constituency presented it in the Lower House. On Tuesday, a local nongovernmental organization from Jalgaon lodged a complainant with the district collector about the incident.

An inquiry into the matter has been directed by Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. In response to Mahale’s question, Deshmukh claimed that the state would select a four-member committee to investigate the incident and send a report within two days.

It is a very unfortunate incident. A four-member high-level committee of officials has been formed to conduct a probe into it… they have been asked to submit a report in two days. Action will be taken as per rules after the report is submitted,” Mr Deshmukh said.

The Women and Child Services Department manages the hostel.

The Women and Child Welfare Department provides food and accommodation in the hostel in Ganesh Colony for vulnerable, oppressed women and girls.
