Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Mumbai Indians, was fined Rs 12 lakh for sustaining a slow over-rate during Tuesday’s IPL match against the Delhi Capitals in Chennai. On Tuesday, veteran leg-spinner Amit Mishra (4/24) spun his web around the Mumbai Indians batsmen, limiting them to a sub-par 137 for 9, and Delhi chased down the mark with five balls to spare.

“Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has been fined after his team’s slow over pace during their IPL 2021 match against Delhi Capitals on April 20 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai,” the IPL said in a tweet.

Mr Sharma was fined Rs 12 lakh for his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to a minimum above rate offences, according to the statement.

Delhi Capitals Beat Mumbai Indians by 6 Wickets

Shikhar Dhawan’s patient match-winning innings helped Delhi Capitals break their jinx and defeat Mumbai Indians by 6 wickets.

When looking at the head-to-head record, MI leads with 16 points, but DC isn’t far behind with 12 victories. Last year’s final featured these two teams, with an all-conquering MI storming to a record-extending fifth title. The fact that both teams have had a similar start to the season brings another dimension to the upcoming game on Wednesday, with each camp hoping to outsmart the other.

Delhi Capitals

Rishabh Pant’s team began the season with a resounding victory over CSK. Despite a below-par goal, they came close to making a match out of their next assignment against Rajasthan Royals before being undone by Chris Morris. DC rebounded with a comfortable victory over Punjab Kings, cruising to a 196-run mark without breaking a sweat. What distinguishes DC from MI is the latter’s continuity over time. DC has shown signs of being able to maintain their style, but they will do better to learn from their rivals about how to do so.

Mumbai Indians

Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock have been given the opportunity to play, but have failed to convert. Suryakumar seems to be in fine form, but the middle order is a concern. They have yet to reach 160 runs this season, and one of the main reasons for this is that big-hitting allrounders Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard have not yet found their stride. The outstanding efforts of their bowlers, led by Rahul Chahar and Jasprit Bumrah, have enabled them to win two of their three matches thus far. No score is out of control while their middle-order is in full swing.
