Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that taxpayers have an important contribution in the development of the state.

The economic progress of the state is getting new dimensions, he said.

We are engaged in building a prosperous, glorious and developed Madhya Pradesh with cooperation from the industry and trade sector, with the participation of citizens, he said.

Chief Minister Chouhan was felicitating the representatives of industry and business sector of the highest tax collecting institutions at the Bhamashah Samman ceremony at Hansdhwani Auditorium of Ravindra Bhavan on Thursday. A total of 10 awards of 5 categories each were presented at the function for the year 2020-21 and 2021-22.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that from the coming year, small taxpayers would also be rewarded in a separate category. Congratulating the award-winning industrial and business institutions, Chief Minister Chouhan expressed his gratitude and felicitated all the taxpayers.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that earning money honestly and paying taxes honestly is an important service.

He said the growth rate of Madhya Pradesh is 19.76 percent. The per capita income in Madhya Pradesh, which was 13 thousand in the year 2003, has now increased to Rs one lakh 47 thousand. Madhya Pradesh’s contribution to India’s economy has increased from 3.6 percent to 4.6 percent.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that the industries and businesses have an important contribution in filling the state treasury. The work for development of public welfare and basic facilities is made easier by the income received from tax.

Lack of money and its impact are both inappropriate. But earning money with honesty is important.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that all departments should make efforts to increase their income. Income from taxes provides strength to the society. The Chief Minister said that implementation would be done on the suggestions received from industry and business world.

Chief Minister Chouhan informed about the importance of Global Investors Summit and Pravasi Bharatiya Sammelan to be held in Indore in the month of January. He said that various clusters are being formed to promote small and medium industries.

Facilities will be increased for general category in Ujjain

Chief Minister Chouhan said that after the inauguration of the first phase of Shri Mahakal Lok, the number of hotels in Ujjain is increasing. Necessary arrangements will be made so that the general class do not face any problem of staying here after arrival.

After the inauguration of Shri Mahakal Lok, there has been a spurt in the economic activities of Ujjain and nearby areas.

At the outset, Chief Minister Chouhan was accorded a warm welcome. The Chief Minister presented awards and honors to different categories of taxpayers.

Finance and Commercial Tax Minister Jagdish Deora said that industrialists and businessmen, who have contributed in the development of the state by paying taxes honestly on time, have also supported Chief Minister Chouhan’s resolve to make Madhya Pradesh a leading state. Principal Secretary Commercial Tax Deepali Rastogi welcomed the Chief Minister Chouhan.

The programme started with Madhya Pradesh Anthem. Information regarding efforts made to ensure efficient tax administration, use of information technology to check tax evasion and efforts to provide online facility to the taxpayers through simple Hindi in the state was given.

Chief Minister Chouhan released the booklet ‘Megha Welcome Kit’.

Simultaneously, WhatsApp based Hindi Chatbot was dedicated. A short film produced by the department was screened at the function.

Awards Winners

Among the businessmen who were awarded for the year 2020-21, the first prize of Rs 10 lakh in the category of turnover more than Rs 500 crore went to V.E. Commercial Vehicles, Pithampur and second prize of Rs 7 lakh was given to Ultratech Cement, Jawad, Neemuch district. Similarly, in the category not exceeding Rs 50 crores to Rs 500 crores, the first prize of Rs 7 lakh was given to Prem Motors Pvt Ltd, Gwalior and the second prize of Rs 5 lakh was given to CEAT Ltd, Indore.

First prize in the above Rs 1.5 crore turnover category of Rs. 5 lakhs was given to Kshipra & Company Pvt. Ltd. Ujjain, second prize of Rs 3 lakh was given to the Super agency, Jabalpur.

Similarly, the first prize of Rs one lakh in the category of less than Rs 1.5 crore turnover went to EMIL Mines and Mineral Resources Ltd., Bhopal and second prize of Rs. 50 thousand was given to THDC India Limited Baidhan Singrauli.

In the category of Government Departments, Public Undertakings, LIC Bhopal was awarded the first prize of Rs.3 lakh and the second prize was Rs.2 lakh to the Ministry of Railways, Jabalpur.

Bhamashah Awards for the financial year 2021-22 were also given in five categories.

In the category of turnover less than Rs 1.5 crore, first prize of Rs. 1 lakh went to THDC India Ltd. Baidhan, Singrauli, second prize of Rs. 50 thousand was won by Umaria’s Chongle & Co Pvt Ltd.

Similarly, the first prize of Rs 5 lakhs for the turnover of 1.5 crore to Rs 50 crore was awarded to Akshit Auto Agencies of Chhindwara and second prize of Rs 3 lakhs to SEG Automotive India Pvt Ltd of Pithampur.

Similarly, the first prize of Rs 7 lakh in the turnover from Rs 50 crore to Rs 500 crore was given to Ceat Ltd. Indore and the second prize of Rs 5 lakh was given to JK Cements Company of Indore.

Similarly, Larsen & Toubro Ltd. Infrastructure Vertical Bhopal bagged the first prize of Rs.10 lakh for a turnover of more than Rs.500 crore and the second prize of Rs 7 lakh went to Ultratech Cement Ltd of Javad Neemuch.

The first prize of Rs. 3 lakh in the category of Government Departments and Public Undertakings was awarded to Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Bhopal and the second prize of Rs 2 lakh went to Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd., Jabalpur.

Office bearers of various industrial and business organizations seated on the stage along with Chief Minister Shri Chouhan were Rajinder Gupta, Shreyaskar Chaudhary, Navneet, Mahesh Gupta, Laghu Udyog Bharti.

26 percent more revenue

Commissioner Commercial Tax Lokesh Jatav informed that 26 percent more revenue has been received from GST this year as compared to last year. In the year 2017-18, a revenue of Rs 9800 crore was acquired from GST, which has increased to more than Rs 22000 crore in the year 2021-22. There were 3 lakh 84 thousand taxpayers under GST in the year 2017-18 which has increased to more than 5 lakh.

To fulfill the resolve of Chief Minister Chouhan to make Atmanirbhar Madhya Pradesh, success has been achieved in increasing revenue collection.

At the time of establishment of the state in Madhya Pradesh, there was a revenue collection of Rs. 5 crore. At present it is Rs 49 thousand crores. 86 circles of Commercial Tax Department are working in the state.

A help desk has also been started by the department. Human intervention in the works is minimal. Madhya Pradesh is the leader in the country in GST collection.

The highest monthly collection has been registered in the month of October.
