The MP Forest Department and the State Forest Research Institute (SFRI) organises two-days workshop on ‘rehabilitation of degraded forest ecosystem in MP – emerging scenario and way forward.

The workshop is organised on completion of 100 years of forestry research in Madhya Pradesh.

SFRI director Amitabh Agnihotri delivered the welcome address. TFRI director Dr. Rajeshwar Rao delivered the key note address.

MPMFP Federation MD Pushkar Singh addressed the inaugural ceremony.

The State Forest Research institute is located at N 23007’.380’ latitude and E 0790 55’.923 longitude at Jabalpur in a lush green campus spread over a sprawling area of about 102 ha. 

­­Jabalpur is situated on the banks of holy river Narmada.

The institute’s mission is to focus its efforts on adaptive and applied research programmes for the conservation and development of forests and forestry sector in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

It endeavours to focus its activities as per the requirement of the forest development community and is engaged in need based research.

The institute tries to acquire knowledge about sectoral problems in forest management and means to overcome them and disseminate the same simultaneously to the stakeholders.

The city is gateway to important to wild life sanctuaries which include Kanha Nation Park (160 kms), Bandhavgarh National Park (200 kms), Panna (241 kms) and Pench (212 kms).

Other places of tourist interest are Bhedaghat, Bargi dam and Madan Mahal fort.
