COVID-19 victims’ families in Madhya Pradesh will be compensated with Rs 1 lakh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced today.

“We tried our best to save the loved ones of every family, but many families lost their members, despite all our efforts. They have suffered irreparable loss, and words of sympathy are insufficient. As a result, every family whose member died as a result of the deadly viral infection during the pandemic’s second wave will be awarded a sum of one lakh rupees “At an online meeting with BJP MLAs in Indore, the Chief Minister stated.

Since the second wave of the pandemic hit Madhya Pradesh in March, the state has lost approximately 3,500 people to Covid.

On May 14, the Chief Minister announced a monthly stipend of $5,000 for children orphaned by Covid, as well as free rationing, education, and a zero-interest loan.

Mr Chouhan announced two schemes for the families of government employees who died as a result of Covid three days later. He promised a government job for one family member of every government employee who died as a result of Covid, as well as a compensation of $5 lakh to the families of those who died.

During the last 24 hours, Madhya Pradesh reported 4,952 new Covid cases, 88 deaths, and 9,746 recoveries. The day’s positivity rate fell to 6.3%, the lowest single-day positivity rate in the previous 65 days.
