Laxmikant Dwivedi, a security personnel with the 22nd battalion of Chhattisgarh’s District Reserve Guard (DRG), was slain. He was murdered by a pressure improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Maoists on Thursday.

Officials said on Saturday that Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had declared a one-crore financial assistance to the family of a state security personnel who was killed two days ago in a blast of an IED planted by Naxals in Chhattisgarh.
Laxmikant Dwivedi, a military man with the District Reserve Guard (DRG) of Chhattisgarh’s 22nd battalion, was dead. On Thursday, he was killed by a Maoist-detonated pressure improvised explosive device (IED).
According to officials, the chief minister also declared a government job for a relative of Laxmikant Dwivedi, whose body was taken to Rewa, his home district in MP, on Friday.
They added that Mr Chouhan even declared that his family would be offered a home.
On Friday, Laxmikant Dwivedi’s last rites were held in his hometown of Barchha Kakahra, about 150 kilometres from Rewa district headquarters.
