The MP High Court disposed of a PIL after the State submitted that the appointment of chairman of Madhya Pradesh State Food Commission (MPSFC) is done and process to appointments members is waiting for the State Cabinet nod is underway.

A division bench comprising Justice Vivek Rusia and Justice Amar Nath (Kesharwani) disposed of the PIL after taking on record the submissions of the State government into appointment of chairman and members of the MP State Food Commission.

The government advocate appearing for the State submits that vide Gazette notification dated 17.11.2022, Professor Virendra Kumar Malhotra has been appointed Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh State Food Commission, the court order of November 29, 2022 said.
So far as appointment of Members are concerned, he submits that it is at the stage of approval by the cabinet and the same shall be done expeditiously, the court order said.

The petitioner’s counsel Abinav Dhanodkar said the PIL was filed by a Indore based writer and researcher Chinmay Mishra alleging non-functioning of the Madhya Pradesh State Food Commission due to non-availability of Chairman and other members.
