Over 100 blind students enrolled in the Government Mahakaushal Arts and Commerce College Jabalpur to undergo self employment training this month.

The self employment training will be provided to them in various categories including Jute bag making, coaster painting, Doormat Making, Block and Stencil art and Plater ND candle Holder.

Government Mahakaushal Arts and Commerce College professor Dr. Arun Shukla informed that the blind students enrolled in the college will be given self employment training.

Shukla is nodal officer of the scheme for Jabalpur division covering various districts including Narsinghpur, Katni and Dindori.

For this special permission was taken from the concerned officer of the Vivekanand Career Margdarshan Yojna (Vivekanand Career Guidance Scheme) Bhopal, he said.

Over 100 blind students coming from various districts of Madhya Pradesh including Gwalior and Balaghat are enrolled in various courses in the college, he said.

The college does not charge any fees from the blind students including tuition, examination and other fees.

Swami Vivekananda Career Guidance Scheme is one of the ambitious scheme of the Madhya Pradesh government for the students.

The objective of Swami Vivekananda Career Guidance Scheme has been started to provide training and guidance to the students studying in all the government higher secondary schools, government colleges and technical educational institutions of the state to establish their own employment and self-employment. 

To implement the scheme, units work at the college level, which are known as cells. 

In every academic session, an annual career calendar is prepared/determined for conducting the programs organized throughout the year, and employment-oriented training sessions are organized as per the prescribed calendar. 

The activities organized under the scheme are monitored by the officers working in the district division and state level offices and suggestions are also received/provided as per the need. 

The state government is making efforts to provide employment and self-employment to the students along with education and to introduce them to various aspects of employment. 

So that students can get trained for employment and self-employment along with studies and teaching.

Operation of the scheme –

Under the scheme, 12 full-time professors, division coordinators, 52 district nodal professors are working part-time under the Higher Education Department and 504 training and placement officers (TPOs) are working in colleges. 

And its complete information is conveyed to the State Coordination Office.

After obtaining permission from the senior departmental officers, the State Coordination Office makes available the budget amount for the implementation of the necessary activities of the scheme.
