There is a fresh twist in the blame game between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP over the suspected beating of the 85-year-old mother of BJP cadre Gopal Majumdar. The family says that the son himself is constantly beating his wife, whereas the grandson claimed that his grandmother, Nimta’s resident in north Parganas, had not been beaten by the TMC.

The elderly lady, Shova Majumdar, and her son, Gopal Majumdar, were reportedly assaulted by the scoundrels who barged in their home in West Bengal’s North 24th district of Parganas on Saturday. Gopal Majumder claimed that he was thrashed just because he was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and alleged that TMC staff were behind the attack.

Though Saffron’s camp shouted at the TMC for targeting Shova Majumdar, an elderly lady, the TMC denied the accusation.

The old woman’s grandchildren can be seen in a video that they have posted on Twitter saying the TMC can’t do that, Gora Majumdar, one of her grandsons, said that the swelling of her eyes was part of the sickness of her grandmother.

“My grandma is almost on her bed of death. Her condition triggers the swelling in her pupils. No aggression was used by the TMC. It has nothing to do with politics, I have seen my grandmother,”
