After the Covid-19 pandemic hit India, Sonu Sood has acted as a Good Samaritan for many people. The actor has made his social media accounts available to those in need. People have praised his charitable efforts, with Bigg Boss 14 contestant Rakhi Sawant endorsing him as India’s next Prime Minister. The actor, on the other hand, is not on board with the idea.

Sonu was seen distributing summer drinks to photographers underneath his flat, and when asked about Rakhi’s idea, he said, “Hum aam insaan ache hai Bhai, aam insaan better hai” (I’m better off as a common man). A photographer advised him to try his hand at politics. Sonu said, “Bhai log khade hai na humare, kya karenge elections mein khade ho ke?” Wo Apna kaam nahi hai na (My brothers are battling elections; what can I do about elections; that is not my job).

Rakhi isn’t the only one who has spoken for the actress. Vir Das, the actor-comedian, subtly supported the Dabangg star a few days back. “@thevirdas for prime minister 2024,” a Twitter user said last week. In response to the tweet, Vir said, “The number is incorrect. Please contact Sonu Sood.” He also used an emoji with folded hands in his tweet.

Sonu has been hard at work organising beds, oxygen equipment, and medications for those battling Covid-19 in the second wave. He was recently spotted assisting Indian cricketer Suresh Raina, who had demanded an oxygen cylinder for his aunt. The actor had previously posted a video of his phone continuously ringing with help-seeking calls.

Sonu tested positive for Covid-19 last month. On April 17, the actor wrote, “Hello everybody, I’m writing to let you know that I tested positive for COVID-19 this morning. As a precaution, I have quarantined myself and am taking extreme care, but don’t worry, this gives me plenty of time to fix your problems. Mind, I am still available to you all.” Within two weeks, he tested negative for Covid-19.
