A social organisation has filed an appeal with the MP Electricity Regulatory Commission (MPERC) to postpone the public hearing on annual revenue requirement and tariff petition (2023-24) filed by the state owned electricity distribution companies scheduled from January 23 onwards.

The Nagrik Upbhokta Margdarshak Manch president Dr. PG Najpandey and Rajat Bhargava said the appeal is filed before the MPERC to postpone the public hearing on grounds that a PIL pending in the Madhya Pradesh High Court in this regard.

Bhargava said the PIL is filed to comply the Supreme Court directives to frame regulations before deciding the power tariff.

The MPERC carries public hearing to hear the suggestions/objections from the electricity consumers and it was in this process the hearing is scheduled from January 23 onwards, he said.
