“Price rise and Congress are a team. When Congress comes, so does rising prices,” said PM Modi Lok Sabha on Thursday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Thursday, replying to the motion of thanks on the Presidential address to the joint session of Parliament, criticized Congress and said that the main opposition party was unable to digest that a poor man like him was challenging their ‘Sultanate’ (their governance).

“You know what is my crime for them? That a person born to a poor family is challenging their SultanateIn hating Modi, the Opposition has begun to hate the nation. That is why their leaders go to London and do press conferences to show India in bad light,” said PM Modi in Lok Sabha.

Presenting key achievements of the Modi government ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, President Ram Nath Kovind on January 31 had asserted that it has worked to build a “New India” after assuming power in 2014 and infused new hope when the nation was passing through “uncertain times”.

During his over 60-minute address in the Central Hall of Parliament, Kovind spoke on issues ranging from Rafale jet deal and 10% reservation for the general category poor to the triple talaq legislation, the Citizenship Amendment Bill and the state of the economy.

President Kovind Nath described the 10% quota as historic.

“Prior to the 2014 General Election, the country was passing through a phase of uncertainty. After the elections, my government assumed charge and vowed to build a New India. A New India with no place for imperfect, corrupt and inertia ridden systems,” he said.
