In Tripura, more than 25.73 lakh voters cast their votes in 76 assembly constituencies today, Officials have gave this information. In the state Tripura, BJP has been trying to overthrow the ruling Left Front for the last 25 years.

Out of the total 60 seats in Tripura assembly, there was peaceful polling on 59 today. Thousands of personnel of central paramilitary forces were deployed for independent and unbiased voting in the state. The news of the disturbances in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) appeared in some polling booths and they were rectified.

Polling was not held today due to the death of CPI (M) candidate Ramendra Narayan Deb Verma in the Chalalaam Assembly constituency last week. Voting will be held on March 12 in this constituency.

The Election Commission said in Delhi that the new voting percentage has been prepared from 41 out of 59 constituencies. In his last briefing, he said the percentage of voting was 74. Election Deputy Commissioner Sudip Jain told reporters in the National Capital that in the last assembly elections, 91.82 percent voting and 84.32 percent voting was registered in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. According to them, two bombs were found which were detained by security personnel.

The voting percentage is likely to increase as bigger lines were seen on polling stations even after four o’clock in the polling phase. According to Election Law, there is a provision for allowing voters standing in line to use their franchise at the time of polling limit.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Tapas Rai said in the news that in the beginning, some EVM machines were disturbed and corrected. In the day, Chief Election Officer Shriram Taranakanti had said that voting was delayed at some polling stations in West Tripura, Khowai and Unakoti districts as the officials did not join the EVM rightly. Immediately the technicians were sent and they corrected the EVM.
