The women self help group (SHG) of village Jait a native village of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has set an example for other women SHGs in the state by starting the Custom Hiring Center for giving agricultural equipments on rent to the farmers.

The concept of Custom Hiring Centre (CHC) is basically a unit comprising a set of farm machinery, implements and equipment meant for custom hiring by farmers. The objective is to supply farm implements to small, marginal and poor farmers at nominal rates on hire.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s resolution about women must be empowered and along with their families.

They should participate in the development of their state and country.

The chief minister from time to time gives tips for self-reliance of women in every public program and also ensures benefits of government schemes.

The story is such that women self-help groups, engaged in various economic activities in Sehore district, are now going to establish a new concept for the region by running a custom hiring center.

In view of the skill and efficiency of the women in the district, the Agriculture Department has entrusted the Ganga Aajeevika Women Self-Help Group of village Jait of Budhni Tehsil to run the CHC.

The agriculture department has provided tractors, rotavators, cultivators and other agricultural equipment to the self-help groups, which they will give to the farmers on nominal rent.

This custom hiring center run by the women group will make it easier for the small and marginal farmers of the area to get agricultural equipment on rent at concessional rates.

The self-help groups will get income from the Custom Hiring Center on one side, while on the other the persons engaged to operate the agriculture machinery will get employment.

Ranu Kewat, Rajmani Kewat and other women of the group told their financial condition would be strengthened by getting an additional source of income.

They said “we are very excited by this new work and it will be our endeavor to provide quick and better services to the farmers”.

At present, along with Ganga Aajeevika Group, 27 women self-help groups of the district are also successfully doing crop procurement during Rabi season. The farmers have also appreciated the earning work being done by the women self-help groups.
