Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh: The State Narcotics has seized illegal liquor and drugs worth Rs 13.47 crore in the last three months prior to the Lok Sabha elections which are to be held in four phases in upcoming months.

“Illegal liquor and drug seizures of 13.47 lakh rupees have been seized from January 1 till now,” Chief Election Officer (CEO) V.L. Kantha Rao said on Wednesday.

“1.71 thousand liters of illicit liquor was seized from the Police Department in the proceedings that took place from January 1, 2019 till today,” he added.

Apart from this, in the proceedings taken by the excise department, Gadhara, 1.04 lakh liters of illicit liquor worth Rs 3.12 crore and 12.78 lakh liters of Rs 3.67 crore worth of country liquor made from Mahua has been seized.

CEO Kantha Rao also told media sources that in the probe conducted by state Narcotics department, 23.24 lakh rupees worth of 213 gram of illegal heroin as well as 129.510 kilograms of illicit opium worth Rs 1.29 crore was recovered from Neemuch.
