A small trainer aircraft crashed in a field in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, today injuring three people on board, officials said.

The pilot, a co-pilot, and another passenger onboard the plane have been shifted to a hospital and are undergoing treatment, Bhopal police official Arun Sharma said.

The aircraft crashed in Gandhi Nagar Police Station limits of the city, he added. The aircraft was being used for conducting a survey, officials said.

“The small-body aircraft was flying towards Guna from Bhopal when it crashed in an agricultural field near Badwai village in the afternoon,” Mr. Sharma told news agency PTI.

He said that all three people on board sustained minor injuries and that none of them were taken to the hospital.

The pilot, a co-pilot, and another person who was working for a private company conducting a survey were on board at the time of the crash, according to Raja Bhoj Airport Director Anil Vikram. According to him, the plane crashed due to a technical problem.

When the crash occurred, the aircraft was being piloted by a Captain and two trainee pilots. Ashwini Sharma, the captain, and Sami and Raj, the trainee pilots, have been named.

As soon as the incident was reported, the fire department arrived on the scene. The three pilots were safely evacuated and rushed to a local hospital.
