In front of the Parliament’s Budget Session that begins on January 31, around 875 staff individuals from the House, including Rajya Sabha director and Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu, have tested positive for Covid-19, the Parliament secretariate said.

Naidu isolated himself for seven days in Hyderabad.

“The Vice-President, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, who is in Hyderabad, tested Covid positive today. He has chosen to stay in self-isolation for seven days. He has prompted every one of the people who interacted with him to confine themselves and get tested,” Naidu’s secretariat said in a tweet on Sunday. This is the second time Naidu has tested positive for the infection.

Before the Budget Session, 2,847 tests were directed at the Parliament intricate and the 875 staff individuals tested positive.

A call is relied upon to be made whether Lower and Upper Houses of Parliament will sit all the while or in various changes considering a spike in the Covid-19 cases.

The Budget Session will be held from January 31 to April 8 with an almost extended break after the primary half. The Union financial plan will be introduced on February 1 and the President will address a sitting of the two Houses working together.
