Akshay Kumar, known for his philanthropic efforts, has pledged one crore to cricketer Gautam Gambhir’s Delhi-based NGO to assist those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Saturday evening, the 39-year-old cricketer thanked Akshay Kumar in a tweet, adding, “Any support in this darkness comes as a ray of hope.” Thank you so much, Akshay Kumar, for pledging one crore to the Gautam Gambhir Foundation for shelter, medicine, and oxygen for the poor! “May God bless you.”

In response to Gautam Gambhir’s tweet, Akshay Kumar, who was infected with the virus earlier in April, wrote that he was looking forward to better times: “These are difficult times, Gautam Gambhir. I’m glad I could assist. I wish we could all get out.
