A 12-year-old student reportedly committed suicide in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur district as he was “disrupted” by his father’s inability to pay school fees, police said.

Anup Kumar (18) shot himself with a country gun on Wednesday, after his father told him that he could not make enough money in order to pay his school tuition fee, Police Deputy Superintendent Mahendra Kumar said.

The deceased father, Parmeshwar Dayal, employed as a worker, said his son asked Rs 8,000 two months ago to pay a school fee to the police. He confronted his father about the money again on Wednesday.

The corpse of the deceased had been sent to post-mortem, the police said.
