Singer Arijit Singh’s mother, Aditi Singh, died of a cerebral stroke on Wednesday in a Kolkata hospital, according to news agency PTI. Aditi Singh had recently recovered from COVID-19. Aditi Singh was 52 years old when she was admitted to the hospital for COVID-19 care. Arijit Singh’s mother survived COVID-19 and tested negative for the virus on Monday, but died on Wednesday from a cerebral stroke.

According to PTI, a hospital source reported Arijit Singh’s mother’s death and said: “She died about 11 p.m. last night. Aditi Singh was put on ECMO after being admitted with COVID (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation). She tested negative on Monday, but died last night from a cerebral stroke.”

Earlier on May 6, Bengali filmmaker Srijit Mukherjee had shared a post on Twitter requesting A negative blood group donor to come forward to help Arijit Singh’s mother for her treatment. He urged eligible donors to visit the AMRI hospital in Kolkata’s Dhakuria. He shared the tweet in Bengali and wrote: “Need A- donor for singer Arijit Singh’s mother in Dhakuria Amri tomorrow. Interested blood donors can contact Nitasha on 801719747647.”

Arijit Singh recently urged people not to leave their homes as a prevention measure against the COVID-19 pandemic in a Facebook post. The singer posted several tips for avoiding and combating COVID-19 in a lengthy Facebook post. He had written the article in Hindi and Bengali. “Yeh baar-baar keh raha hun mai yeh baar-baar keh raha hun. Apne aap ko gharo mei band kar lijiye aap ko gharo mei band kar lijiye aap ko gharo me Baahar mat nikaliye (I am saying this again and again, please remain inside your houses and don’t go outside),” he wrote in the post.

Arijit Singh has been one of the most famous musicians in recent years. After the success of his song Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2, he became a household name. Agar Tum Saath Ho, Humdard, and Kalank are some of his other hit songs.
