UP. The hearing on the Ayodhya dispute in the Supreme Court is going on again from today. The hearing was done on December 8, but the documents were not translated, so the court had extended the date two months more. This potential hearing is considered important, because a special bench chaired by Chief Justice Deepak Mishra had dismissed the Sunni Waqf Board and others plea that the petition should be heard after the next general elections.

Let’s find out its 10 important points-

1. The hearing in the court will be from 2 PM today. The bench of three judges will hear it. This will include Chief Justice Deepak Mishra,
Justice Abdul Nazir and Justice Ashok Bhushan.

2. During the previous hearing, Chief Justice Deepak Mishra fixed the date for the next hearing on February 8. At that time, he had said that on any day in the name of any of the documents, he will not ask for the hearing. All parties prepare their documents. Sit down with other parties and create common memorandum. The court had asked to make a translation of 7 language documents till August 7.

3. Of the total of 19,590 pages, 3,260 pages of Sunni Central Waqf Board were not submitted. On the demand of the hearing, the counsel of the Board Kapil Sibal said that this case is not just a land dispute but a political issue.

5. During the previous hearing, the lawyer of Sunni Waqf Board Kapil Sibal had asked the court to hold the hearing of this case till the Lok Sabha elections. He said, “Please keep the matter in mind by taking into account the effect. Please be heard in July 2019, we assure that we will not allow it to proceed further in any way,  justice should be done.

6. On this, the Supreme Court said, “What kind of offer is this? You are saying July 2019. Can not the case be heard before this?”

7. A group of Muslims had presented a draft in court under the banner of Shia Central Waqf Board of Uttar Pradesh. According to this draft, a Ram temple should be built at the disputed site and the mosque is built in Lucknow. Instead of keeping the name of this mosque in the name of the king or ruler, the mosque-e-Aman should be kept.

8. In the case, pending pensions for 7 years was listed for the first time on August 11 last year. In the first day the case was caught on the translation of the documents. The Court had given 12 weeks to translate 9000 pages into English in 7 languages, including Sanskrit, Pali, Persian, Urdu and Arabic. Apart from this, there are 90,000 pages recorded in the witnesses. The UP government has deposited 15 thousand pages of documents.

9. Sunni Waqf Board reached the Supreme Court on Dec 14, 2010 against the High Court verdict. Then one after the other 20 pitties got filed. The Supreme Court stayed the High Court’s decision on May 9, 2011, but the hearing did not begin. During this time, 7 Chief Justice changed. Seventh Chief Justice, JS Khehar listed for the first time this year on 11th August.

10. Allahabad High Court ordered to distribute the disputed 2.77 acres of land in three equal parts. The court handed over the statue of Ramlala to Ramlala Viharman. Sita Kitchen and Ram Chaboota gave the Sunni Waqf Board to the Nirmohi Akhara and the rest to build the mosque.
