Vice President and Visitor (Ex-officio) Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Jagdeep Dhankhar will inaugurate the new campus of the university located at Bisankhedi in Bhopal on Thursday, 15 September.

He will also award degrees to the students in the fourth convocation ceremony of MCU.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will participate in the programme virtually.

Public Relations and Public Health Engineering Minister Rajendra Shukla said that it is a matter of pride for us that Vice President Dhankhar will inaugurate the new campus of MCU.

Minister Shukla reviewed the preparations. He also inspected the programme venues of the campus and apprised himself about security arrangements and traffic routes.

The Public Relations Minister also reviewed the progress of the construction work of MCAU’s Rewa campus.

Minister Shukla gave necessary instructions regarding faculty accommodation along with hostels, sports facilities in Rewa campus. He sought information about the preparations for the proposed dedication of Section-1 of Rewa Complex on September 20 and gave necessary instructions.

Minister Shukla said that it is the effect of the success of the university that today lakhs of students are getting education in various genres of journalism through different campuses. The continuous progress of the university is historic. He met Vice Chancellor Prof. K.G. Suresh and all the staff of the university and extended congratulations for this achievement and best wishes for the future.

Radio-Karmveer is an excellent platform to provide developmental information to the masses

Public Relations Minister Shukla congratulated the Vice Chancellor, concerned students and academic staff for the successful operation of the community radio “Radio-Karmaveer” operated in the university campus. The Public Relations Minister said that radio is still relevant in spreading information about public welfare schemes of the government to the people in remote areas.

Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) KG Suresh said that in the convocation, degrees will be awarded to the students passed from June 2018 to December 2022. In the ceremony, degrees will be awarded to approximately 500 students including postgraduate and 23 PhD students. The university has five campuses and sixteen hundred study centers including Bhopal, in which about 2 lakh students are studying. There are two academic buildings Takshashila and Vikram Shila in the new campus of the university. A total of ten departments operate in these two grand blocks of four storeys each of the university. Indian Language Department has also been established under the National Education Policy. The Nalanda Library in the campus has more than 42 thousand important books on subjects like journalism, media, mass communication, management, advertising, public relations, computers etc. Besides, every department also has its own separate library, auditorium and conference hall. More than 850 people can sit together in Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Auditorium. There is also Tansen Muktakaash Manch with seating arrangement near to 450. Makhanpuram campus also has accommodation facilities for professors, officers and employees.

It is noteworthy that the university has been included in the list of top-10 excellent universities of the country by India Today magazine and The Week. The university is the first media university in the country to implement the National Education Policy (NEP). Secretary Public Relations Vivek Kumar Porwal, Commissioner Madhya Pradesh Housing Board Chandramouli Shukla, Registrar Dr. Avinash Vajpayee along with administrative officers, senior administrative officers of the university, department heads and professors were present.
