A woman in Bengaluru says a man delivering food for Zomato attacked her inside her home because her order was not issued on time.

Hitesha Chandranee, a content maker, revealed a bleeding gash on her nose in videos uploaded on social media, which she said was triggered by the distribution executive attacking her.

The official Twitter account for the food-delivery app reacted to her video by saying that a “local representative will be in contact with you shortly to assist you with the police investigation.”

Ms Chandranee said in the video, clearly crying and pointing to her bloody nose, “So, my Zomato delivery order was late, and I was talking to a customer service representative about it. Meanwhile, the delivery person has just finished this mission. He smacked me, left me bleeding, and disappeared.”

Kamaraj, 35, a Channakeshavanagar resident who works as a delivery boy for a food-delivery firm and restaurant aggregator Zomato, has been arrested. Hitesha Chandranee, a content blogger, argued with the delivery boy over the time it took for her order to arrive. On Tuesday, the incident occurred. According to an investigation officer, Kamaraj is charged with assault and deliberate insult.

The distribution partner has been removed from Zomato’s platform, according to a tweet. “We can’t emphasise how sorry we are, rest assured we’ll take necessary actions to prevent such incidents from happening in the future,” Zomato tweeted.

We truly regret this incident and apologise to Hitesha for her pain. We’ve been in touch with her and are giving her our full assistance as she receives medical attention and undergoes the appropriate investigation. Meanwhile, we’ve removed the distribution partner from our website,” says the company. In a tweet, Zomato said.

After she posted the video, this issue has become viral. Netizens all over the country have been sharing the video and reacting to it. People have shown solidarity towards the victim of the assault. However, some on the other hand are of the opinion that the response shown from the Hitesha is an overreaction and mere exaggeration of the incident.
