The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested four persons from Mumbai accused of alleged involvement in brutal incident Bogtui carnage at Rampurhat in district Birbhum, West Bengal.

Bappa SK alias Sal Mohammad, Sabu SK alias Sadril SK, Taj Mohammad alias Chand and Serajul SK alias Poltu were arrested by the CBI team.

These accused involved in Bogtui carnage at Rampurhat were at large after the incident.

The team of CBI got inputs about their hideout in Mumbai led to their arrest, the CBI press communiqué said.

As per the FIR eight houses and some straw heaps caught fire wherein charred bodies of seven persons were recovered from the house found lying underneath the debris were beyond recognition and four persons were injured.

In preliminary inquiry it was learnt that as a retaliation of the incident of murder of one Bhadu, his followers and associates alongwith some 70/80 persons in allegedly ransacked the houses of the persons as noted above and set fire to the houses with a view to kill the persons inside and their family inmates as a result of which 7 persons were charred to death and 4 persons sustained severe burn injuries, the FIR said.

The CBI registered a case on March 25, 2022 against 22 persons after taking up investigation in compliance with the Kolkata High Court order of March 25, 2022.

Already an FIR was registered with the local police station on March 22, 2022 in the police station Rampurhat, Birbhum district, West Bengal.

The accused were produced before the court and were granted transit remand till April 10, 2022.
