Chief MinisterShivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the implementation of Mission Amrit Sarovar is receiving continuous success in Madhya Pradesh. Various departments are working in coordination to achieve the target of making 75 Amrit Sarovars each in every district.
The People’s representatives and citizens have also become partners in the construction of the Sarovars. CM Chouhan was reviewing the progress of construction of Amrit Sarovars at Samatva Bhavan today. It was informed that Madhya Pradesh is second in the country on the basis of number of completed works of Amrit Sarovars. 2,657 Amrit Sarovars have been built in the state. The target is to construct 5,372 Amrit Sarovar this year.
Chouhan instructed the officers of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department that one such person from each panchayat must positively be associated with the construction of Amrit Sarovar, who is interested in water conservation. Similarly, efforts should also be made to create and increase the number of user groups. Keep this aim that all Amrit Sarovars should be ready before the onset of monsoon.
Chouhan said that it is the dream of Prime Minister Modi that through Mission Amrit Sarovar there should be a significant increase in water storage capacity, community activities get enhanced, awareness among students about water conservation will increase and Amrit Sarovars should become an example of public participation. The Chief Minister said that on this vision of the Prime Minister, work is being done in Madhya Pradesh. The achievements of the state are such that we feel proud. Efforts should also be made to develop Amrit Sarovars as picnic spots. The works of beautification should also be completed quickly.
In the presentation related to the mission, it was told that the construction work of 5372 Amrit Sarovars has started in Madhya Pradesh, out of which 2657 have been completed. For the construction of Amrit Sarovars, only new works were taken up in the plan in Madhya Pradesh and emphasis has also been laid on inter-departmental coordination. Along with Panchayat and Rural Development Department, institutions like Water Resources, Forest, Fisheries Development along with National Highways Authority and Railways have become allies. Funds of MGNREGA, water shed development, 15th Finance Commission and Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana were used as financial source. The works have become easier with public participation. The districts which are ahead in construction of Amrit Sarovars include Chhindwara, Morena, Betul, Mandsaur and Burhanpur. More than 4 thousand panchayat representatives, more than 5 thousand panchayat level officers and 2.25 thousand user groups have become participants in the construction of the Sarovars.

3 thousand 955 flag posts have been made on Amrit Sarovars. Where the work of hoisting the flag has also been done on Independence and Republic Day. Not only this, keeping in minds the social concerns, 63 Amrit Sarovars have been dedicated to the names of many freedom fighters and immortal martyrs. Similarly, Sarovars have been made near 116 places of historical importance. In the state, Amrit Sarovars have been constructed near 231 places of religious importance and 342 Amrit Sarovar constructed from the point of view of biodiversity conservation. Sarovars have also been identified for multipurpose economic benefits. 2409 Sarovars are being used for fish production, 1505 for water chestnut production and 199 for tourism purpose.
