Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president and former Chief Minister claimed in a tweet (X) that the top leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party is becoming a major obstacle to free and fair elections in Madhya Pradesh.

Threatening officials to leave BJP’s election symbol ‘Lotus’ if they do not take care of it is not only a flagrant violation of the code of conduct but also a criminal act, Nath claimed.

Intimidating and threatening officials in the middle of the election process is tantamount to murdering democracy, he alleged.

I appeal to all the officers and employees of Madhya Pradesh that they do not need to fear anyone, they should only do that work which is right from the constitutional point of view. You are employees and officers of the state government, and not of any particular party, Nath accused.

I have full hope that the officers and employees will also recognize which political party is strengthening democracy and which political party is weakening democracy and civil rights, Nath said.

Let us all together protect democracy and strengthen democracy, Nath added.
