Governor Mangubhai Patel said it is the need of this time to ensure eco-friendly use of natural resources. There is a need to develop more efficient and cleaner processes for producers and consumers of conventional energy. Patel was addressing virtually from Bhopal the inaugural session of 37th National Conference of Electrical Engineers and two-day national seminar on ‘Green Energy & Clean Energy for New India’ organized by the Institution of Engineers Jabalpur Centre on Saturday.

Patel has said the concern for environment is not only the responsibility of the government, but also the responsibility of every individual. It is important that children, young and old are aware and active towards energy, environment-conservation.

He hoped that the conference would become a forum for exchange of ideas among engineers for the development of energy technology. It will pave the way for making the country more industrially advanced and building a healthy ecosystem for the future generations.

Patel said the country is moving fast towards the goal of 5 trillion economy by the year 2047 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India has joined the list of top 5 economies of the world.

The central government is trying to boost the national economy through the fourth industrial revolution and to provide electricity at affordable cost to the citizens, he said.

The government is working fast in this direction to ensure that the energy supply is environment safe. Our visionary Prime Minister Modi has resolved to reduce the emission intensity of GDP by 33 to 35 percent from 2005 level by 2030 for a clean environment, he said.

Patel said by the year 2030, a target has been set to take non-fossil based power generation capacity to about 30 percent of the installed energy production.

Simultaneously, the work of creating an additional cumulative carbon sink through additional forest and tree cover is also going on at a fast pace. Central and state governments are giving special emphasis on renewable resources like solar and wind energy in energy supply, he said.
