Authorities said on Friday that, “The car they were travelling in smashed into a roadside tree in Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon district on Thursday night, killing four ladies and injuring 11 others”. The personnel of a private coming were coming home after work when the car was involved in an accident, according to police.

Between Arjuni and Raitapali villages, the driver lost control of the car and crashed into a tree. Some onlookers summoned an ambulance, contacted the authorities, and transported the injured to a nearby community health centre.

Sumitra Bai, Saroj Bai, 50, Shivkumari Sahu, 45, and Jainatri Bai, 40, were recognised.

The 11 people who were injured were taken to a hospital in Rajnandgaon. The driver, who is among the injured, is accused of being drunken and speeding at the time of the collision, according to police.
