Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that it is a pleasant surprise for me tha a pledge has been taken to plant 23 thousand 360 saplings in all 413 towns of the state on my birthday. On my birthday, I appealed to the people of the state to plant saplings and help the needy. It is praiseworthy and exemplary to make this appeal a state-wide campaign for tree plantation.

On his 64th birthday, Chouhan participated in a tree plantation programme at Shiv Vatika in Ayodhya Nagar on the theme of ‘Jeevan mein aapke jitne din, ropenge utne paudhe gin’. The Chief Minister planted a banyan tree.

Chouhan said that planting saplings in the state in the total number of days of my life so far is a wonderful innovation of plantation. I started planting saplings from 19 February 2021 by taking a pledge to plant saplings every day. With the saplings planted today, the gap created before 19 February 2021 has been fulfilled. Such initiative of the people of the state for environmental protection will help us in making the state greener and we will be able to hand over a better earth as heritage to the next generation.

Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh said that the plantation was done on the appeal of Chief MinisterChouhan, this would probably create a record of planting so many saplings on a birthday. The responsibility of the care and maintenance of Shiv Vatika developed in the urban bodies of the state will be given to the urban bodies. This initiative has proved to be a successful attempt to realize the pledge taken by Chief Minister Chouhan for environmental protection.

The programme started with kanya-pujan and lamp lighting amid swasti-vachan. Mayor Malti Rai, MLA Krishna Gaur and public representatives were present.
