Following his expulsion from Karan Johar’s Dostana 2 and then from Shah Rukh Khan’s Freddie, actor Kartik Aaryan is rumored to have lost yet another possible movie. According to reports, Aaryan was cast in filmmaker Aanand L Rai’s yet-untitled gangster thriller, but he is no longer a part of it.
“Kartik was in advanced level discussions with Aanand and had read the screenplay as well as heard the narration. But before he could sign on the dotted line, things fell apart,” the insider says, adding that Rai’s assistant was supposed to helm this picture.
Reports that Aaryan and Rai are collaborating on a project first arose in February of this year, when the actor was photographed outside the filmmaker’s Mumbai office.
While the exact cause for the project’s failure is unknown, the insider adds, “The fact that Karan abandoned Kartik appears to have impacted others.” So, this may be the third time Kartik has missed out on working with a well-known filmmaker like Aanand.”
That is not the case. Aaryan appears to be unaware that he has already been replaced by another actor. “Aanand is now contemplating Ayushmann Khurrana for this project, with whom he previously cooperated on Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017) and Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan (2020),” the insider said.
When we spoke with Rai, he stated that nothing had been formalized with Aaryan and, without going into greater detail, he said, “As a production business, we work on various screenplays and present them to actors – that’s the procedure.” Actors keep approaching you, and when you tell them what you’re working on, they show a want to cooperate. Then, depending on the matter, you determine whether or not to approach them. However, this does not imply that you have signed them.”
When asked if Khurrana has signed on for the project, the filmmaker replied, “I have a story, which we will soon make with Ayushmann.”
