Khargone will have Surya Tantya Bhil University. The state government has issued orders and given approval in-principle for the establishment of the new university.

The new university will start from academic session from 2024-25.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav approved the proposal to establish the university.

The proposal will be presented in the Cabinet meeting to be held on 13 February.

After approval, the university will formally come into being with passing of a Bill and notifying it under the University Act, 1973.

Professor Dr. G.S. Chauhan to be Registrar

The state government has appointed Dr. G.S. Chauhan, professor of economics of Government Post Graduate College, Khargone.

Orders have also been issued to hand over the additional charge of Registrar of University Khargone to Chauhan along with his present responsibilities.

5 districts to come under jurisdiction

There will be 5 districts under the jurisdiction of Krantisurya Tantya Bhil University, Khargone.

As many as 83 colleges of Khargone, Barwani, Khandwa, Burhanpur and Alirajpur districts will be affiliated to the University benefitting 25 thousand 500 students.

The colleges will be free from affiliation of Devi Ahilya University, Indore.

The university is being established by upgrading the Government Post Graduate College, Khargone.

The functioning of this university begin from the session 2024-25 by using the building and premises of the college.

Rs 200 crore to be spent on construction of building

The construction of the university building will involve an expenditure of approximately Rs 200 crore.

Academic posts will be created for these universities as per the criteria of the University Grants Commission.

It will be ensured that as per the requirement of National Education Policy-2020, courses for the latest subjects of higher education are started in the university and modern teaching technology is used.

Considering the university in the tribal area, special efforts will be made to upgrade the skills of the students.
