New schemes are being implemented for the empowerment of women. There is a need for their better implementation in the field. Such views were expressed by the speakers in the workshop on ‘Bridging the Gap from Policy to Practice for Women’s Empowerment in Madhya Pradesh’ organized by Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis.

The CEO of the institute Swatantra Kumar Singh said that there should be universalization of schemes and policies. With Ladli Yojana enrollment of girls in schools increased

Jyoti Sharma, CEO of District Panchayat Khargone, said that enrollment of girls in schools has increased due to Ladli Laxmi Yojana. She said that the issues of urban and rural women are different. They need to be viewed holistically. She also mentioned Bhagoriya. Sushri Sharma said that due to the schemes of the government, the average age of marriage has increased to about 18-19 years. It is necessary to bring it up to 21-22. She also explained in detail about the education, nutrition, economic and political status of women. Sushri Sharma said that their hesitation sometimes becomes the reason for their backwardness. For women, job is not only important for money but also for identity.

AIG Smt. Pinky Jeevani said that after the Nirbhaya incident, several provisions have been made for the safety of women. One Stop Center is one of them. Women’s police stations have been set up in all the districts. Here quick action is taken on domestic violence and human trafficking. Along with Operation Muskaan, which was launched to find minor children, she also told about Operation Samman and Operation Abhimanyu.

Director M.P. Tourism Board Manoj Singh told about the policy of safe tourist destination for women. He said that the implementation of the scheme would be better if there is participation of the community.

State Women’s Commission Secretary Smt. Trupti Tripathi said that child marriages have reduced to minimum due to the effect of the schemes. She also discussed about gender budgeting. Joint Director Women and Child Development Shri Suresh Tomar also expressed his views.

Representatives of various organizations also gave important suggestions. He said that there is a need to work instead of blame game. Manoj Jain, Chief Advisor of the Institute explained the objectives of the workshop.
