Deepika Padukone: Biography, Movies, Marriage, Husband, Awards & Achievements, Love Affair

Deepika Padukone, the Chairperson of the Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image (MAMI), has stepped down due to professional obligations. “Being on the board of MAMI and acting as Chairperson has been a truly enriching experience,” the 35-year-old actress wrote in a statement posted to her Instagram stories today.

Bringing cinema and creativity from all over the world to Mumbai, my second home, was energizing for me as an artist. I’ve realized, though, that with my current workload, I won’t be able to give MAMI the undivided attention and concentration it takes. I leave with the assurance that MAMI is in the best possible hands and that my bond and association with the academy will last a lifetime.”

Deepika replaced Kiran Rao as MAMI Chairperson in July 2019

In July 2019, Deepika took over as Chairperson of MAMI from Kiran Rao. Kiran had served as the trust’s chairman for four years. Deepika shared her delight at being a member of the MAMI family. She’d said, “It’s a tremendous honor as well as a massive burden. I believe in MAMI’s mission, and we are dedicated to building a culture that film enthusiasts and creators in our country truly deserve.” Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mumbai Film Festival, organized by MAMI, was canceled last year; it is unknown if it will be held this year.
