Hours after tweeting that E Sreedharan, India’s ‘metro guy,’ will be the BJP’s chief minister nominee for next month’s elections to the Kerala Legislature, Union Minister V Muraleedharan made a statement Thursday night, telling the ANI news agency that the party had not yet taken an ultimate ruling.

“Metro Man” E Sreedharan, recently became a member of BJP.

The move occurs on the day Sreedharan was also called into the BJP’s electoral committee for the next state elections.

On 26 February Sreedharan was in Kerala to join the BJP after expressing his public wish to be part of the party. The State Party Unit called it a “perfect day for Kerala that looks forward to growth agenda-based policy.

Sreedharan mentioned his intention to enter politics with the BJP by quoting “political resistance,” stating that he had lived in Kerala for 10 years and had tried his best to improve his work.

Elattuvalapil Sreedharan, widely known as the Metro Man, was credited as its managing director between 1995 and 2012 with transforming India’s public transport faces through his leadership in the construction of Konkan Railway and Delhi Metro. He also has been the mentor of the Kochi Metro project,

He said he would not do a conventional door-to-door campaign. “I won’t go to houses and shops soliciting votes. But my message would reach the voters,” he said in Kochi.

Sreedharan, a Padma Vibhushan award winner, 88, says his primary purpose is to put the Kerala BJP to power, which, once it does, will concentrate primarily on the growth of infrastructure and bring industries to government.
