Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the wonderful art of bagh print is very close to nature. During my stay in Mandu, I have had the privilege of closely observing and understanding the activities related to bagh print of the sisters of the Self Help Groups.

At the same time, I got to practically learn this art that uses natural colours and the magic of hand workmanship to engrave beautiful artwork.

My best wishes to the sisters of the self-help group and all the artists associated with it, he said.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan was discussing with the artists after looking at the art of bagh print artists and the products of women self-help groups at Mandu in Dhar district.

Chouhan was also apprised about the work done under One District One Product, Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana, National Urban Livelihood Mission. He visited Mandav’s historical palaces, monuments and tourist places. The CM was on a two-day visit to Mandu.

Chief Minister Chouhan witnessed bagh printing being done by women members of self-help groups with colours made from herbs and natural products. The Chief Minister understood the working of the bagh print and engraved it on the cloth.

Chouhan interacted with the members of self-help groups, local craftsmen regarding the work being done by them, the products manufactured by them and also praised them for their progress.

The members of self-help groups are trained by the Zilla Panchayat for the work of bagh print.

The increase in the demand for bagh prints has boosted the income of artists. Bagh print craftsmen are also getting encouragement through festivals, exhibitions and expos etc.

Visited Ancient Historical Palaces of Mandu

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan visited the ancient historical Jahaz Mahal complex and Hindola Mahal in Mandu. He visited and offered prayers at Chaturbhuj Ram temple.

He also visited other temples in the temple premises. The Chief Minister offered prayers at Rewa Kund.

After talking to the guides present at the historical sites, he got information about the history of the places. He also talked to tourists.

Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Dattigaon, former minister Ranjana Baghel, public representatives and officials were present.
