Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh has informed that an important decision was taken by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to legalise illegal colonies of urban bodies.

For the implementation of this decision, new rules were formulated by the Urban Development and Housing Department.

Under these rules, the process of legalising more than 6 thousand illegal colonies has been done. Due to the legalisation of these colonies, the residents of these places will be able to get bank loans, permission to build houses, map of houses and benefits of other government schemes.

On May 23, Chouhan will declare the illegal colonies legal and distribute maps of houses to the residents of the legalised colonies of Bhopal at the CM’s residence.

This programme will also be held in those urban bodies where illegal colonies have been declared legal. Public representatives and residents of legal colonies will be present in these programmes. The programme will be broadcast live.

Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Singh has informed that after preliminary publication of 2282 colonies in municipal corporations and finalisation of 1032 layouts, building permission has been initiated in 929 colonies.

Similarly, preliminary publication of 3792 colonies and layouts of 299 colonies have been published in municipal councils and city councils. According to the rules, a target has been set to complete all the proceedings by June 2023.
