The three-day ‘Manthan-2022’ focused on the ‘introspection’ of the engineers and employees of all the state owned power companies of Madhya Pradesh commenced today in Jabalpur, the headquarters of the power companies.

Inaugurating the three-day Manthan 2022 workshop, Madhya Pradesh Energy Minister PS Tomar said the entire country is currently facing power crisis due to shortage of coal, but the condition of Madhya Pradesh is relatively better than other states.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has appreciated the better management of power companies in the cabinet meeting of Madhya Pradesh held few days ago.

Tomar expressed hope that ideas coming out of Manthan-2022 would benefit the electricity consumers of the state. At the inauguration of ‘Manthan-2022’, State’s Principal Secretary Energy Sanjay Dubey, Madhya Pradesh East Zone Electricity Distribution Company Managing Director Anay Dwivedi, Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Managing Director Manjit Singh, Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Managing Director Sunil Tiwari, electrical engineer and technical personnel and experts from the energy sector of the country were present.

There was record revenue collection of Rs 23700 crore in the last financial year,  Tomar said.

Even during the pandemic period, a record revenue of Rs 23700 crore was collected by the power distribution companies of the state in the last financial year, he said. The thermal power plants of the Power Generating Company also produced continuous power while performing exceptionally well.

Some units of the power generating company have created a record by producing power continuously for 100 to 185 days.

The Energy Minister said the power distribution companies and power transmission companies of the state have controlled the tripping of power supply lines by doing excellent maintenance.

He said the failure rate of transformers has come down in the state in the last two years.

Calling for power distribution companies to stop losses and power theft, Tomar called upon the discoms to play an effective role in preventing losses and power thefts.

The minister said the electricity distribution companies of the state are trying to give bills to all the consumers on the basis of their actual consumption. On the occasion, Tomar distributed awards to a total 42 engineers and technical employees for their exemplary work.
