Madhya Pradesh Poorv Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Managing Director Anay Dwivedi (IAS) said banking of around 3400 million units power is going to be done during rainy season with other states.

In lieu of it, the states will return the power back to Madhya Pradesh during Rabi season when the power demand rise in the state following requirement of farmers for irrigation purposes, he said.

As per norms there is an arrangement between two Utilities or States trade power to match the seasonal variations in surplus and deficit situations.

The banking of power is cash-less transaction, wherein no tariff need to be paid for the energy availed/supplied. Such power banking arrangements is already in practice between the power utilities across the country.

In current financial year from April to July, additional 3470 million units of power supplied in the state is 12 percent higher than power supplied for same period last year, he said.

Thus Madhya Pradesh is amongst the few states in the country where hassle free power is supplied to the consumers, he said.

In order to meet the future demand of power in the state, the MP Power Generating Company and Coal India’s South Eastern Coalfileds Limited (SECL) has signed agreement for coal linkage for new 660 megawatt power generating unit coming up in campus of Amarkanta Thermal Power Plant Chachai, he said.

This new power generating unit will start power production from financial year 2027-28, he said.

Similarly the second new power generating unit of 660 megawatt is planned to set up at Satpuda Thermal Power Plant Sarni for which permission for the coal linkage and water supply is already done, he said.

The MP State Load Dispatch Center Jabalpur is first to excute cyber security system in the country, he said.

The Union government has suggested the power   utility in other states to follow the example of MP State Load Dispatch Centre, he said.

The concept of paperless bill is being implemented in the state ad the consumers were started getting electricity bills through SMS and email, he said. Dwivedi was addressing the Independence Day function on Monday.
