The joint efforts of Madhya Pradesh Police and Government Railway Police (GRP) enabled to arrest a 26-year-old man accused of allegedly pushed a woman of a running train after she resisted molestation attempt near Khajuraho in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh.

Ram Babu Yadav (26) a resident of Suri, police station Banpur in district Lalitpur of Uttar Pradesh was arrested in the case within a span of four days.

The police got the lead from about a mobile found unattended from the spot which belonged to the accused, on further investigation other inputs about the accused was received from the co-passengers who were local residents revealed about the appearance of the accused, the GRP official said.

The police teams got input about the accused presence in Tikamgarh district.

On preliminary investigation it was learnt a case of theft is registered against the accused in year 2019.

The incident occurred on April 27 night in a passenger train that runs between Khajuraho (Madhya Pradesh) and Mahoba (Uttar Pradesh).

The victim is a resident of Banda district in Uttar Pradesh, and was returning home by a train after visiting Bageshwar Dham temple in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh.

After the incident, a zero FIR was registered at Khajuraho police station and was later transferred to the GRP for action.

The complaint was sent to the Rewa GRP Station for further investigation.

The woman, who is currently undergoing treatment in Chhatarpur, said the incident occurred close to Rajnagar town near Khajuraho.

She (victim) told local reporters “I came to the temple in Bageshwar Dham (Chhatarpur) and was returning back to native and boarded a train during journey a co-passenger started molesting me”.

“I resisted his attempts and told him to stay away. I also bite him on his hand. The man, aged around 30 years, later threw me out of the moving train near Rajnagar,” she said.

The woman said she has been regularly visiting Bageshwar Dham temple since the last nine months.
