Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan on Wednesday conducted a surprise inspection of the preparations being made for the counting of votes to be held on December 3 for all the assembly constituencies of Raisen and Vidisha districts and gave necessary instructions to the Collector and District Election Officer.

Counting of votes will take place at Government Polytechnic College in Raisen

Chief Electoral Officer Rajan reached Raisen’s Government Polytechnic College located at the district headquarters on Wednesday, and thoroughly inspected all the arrangements made here for the counting of votes for the four assembly constituencies of Raisen district. 

Rajan visited each of the counting rooms made assembly constituency wise and inspected the preparations. 

He also inspected the preparations being made for counting of postal ballots and the security arrangements of the strong room. 

He sought information from Collector and District Election Officer Arvind Dubey about the table to be set-up for counting of votes, the number of staff engaged in counting, security arrangements and number of postal ballots.

Rajan inspected the control room and went to the rooms of the representatives of the election candidates staying in the premises of the counting venue and discussed with them and also saw the arrangements related to monitoring of the strong room through CCTV cameras. 

Rajan reached the District Treasury located in the Composite Collectorate Building and sought information about the postal ballots of Sanchi Assembly constituency kept in the double lock room here. 

He also inspected the security arrangements of the double locked room. During this time, Raisen Superintendent of Police Vikas Shahwal, Deputy District Election Officer Amrita Garg and other officers appointed for counting of votes were also present.

Counting of votes will take place at Government Model College, Jafarkhedi in Vidisha.

Chief Electoral Officer Rajan reached Vidisha after inspection in Raisen. 

Rajan reached Government Model College, Jafarkhedi and observed the preparations being made here for the counting of votes for the five assembly constituencies of Vidisha district. 

He also inspected the security arrangements of the strong room. 

Rajan took detailed information regarding CCTV cameras and security forces deployed at the counting venue, counting of votes and counting of postal ballots.

Collector and District Election Officer Umashankar Bhargava said all the information regarding the security arrangements of the strong room has been given to the candidates and officials of political parties. Arrangements have also been made to monitor the entire counting complex, especially the strong rooms of the five assembly constituencies, through CCTV cameras. The 24-hour live telecast on the LED near the main entrance of the counting complex is being watched continuously by the candidates and persons authorized by them. 

The Collector also gave information about all the arrangements made at the counting venue for media persons.

During the inspection, Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Shukla, Deputy District Election Officer Shashi Mishra and other officers involved in the vote counting arrangements were also present.
