MP Revenue and Transport Minister Govind Singh Rajput said the transport department has taken various initiatives on road safety, citizens convenience, significant efforts were made to better passenger services under leadership of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Rajput was addressing the two-day “Manthan” event organized by the Union Ministry of Highways in Bengaluru.

A two-day ‘Manthan’ conference was organized by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in Bengaluru to deliberate on smart, sustainable, road infrastructure, mobility and logistics ecosystem.

Union Minister for Road and Transport Highways Nitin Gadkari, Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion Minister Rajvardhan Singh Dantigaon and Transport and Public Works Ministers from across the country attended the conference.

Describing the importance of “Manthan” conference, the Minister Rajput said that this initiative of the Government of India is very commendable. This effort has brought forth very good ideas on various topics in these two days. The implementation of which is definitely expected to lead to world-class improvement in road infrastructure and mobility.

Rajput said that in order to provide cheap and convenient people transport facility to the citizens of rural and interior areas of Madhya Pradesh, there is a plan to extend rural transport service in 52 districts of the state as the one taken under pilot project in Vidisha district.

Rajput said that the ‘Vision-Zero’ concept has been implemented for effective implementation of road safety and traffic rules in the state.

He said that the vision of Vision-Zero is being implemented on the basis of five basic principles: safe speed, safe driving behavior, safe roads, after accident assistance and safe vehicle.

Rajput suggested for giving adequate subsidy should be given under FAME-2 scheme to bring down the cost of e-vehicles. E-vehicle charging facility should be developed at 25% petrol pumps. Use of e-buses should be promoted in buses plying 200 to 300 kms. Along with electric vehicles, CNG and hydrogen powered vehicles should be encouraged.

Systems like Odo Meter Tolling, Self On Tolling, Satellite Tolling can be implemented to implement the system of toll collection in a safe, simple, easy and convenient manner in road transport for the convenience of the citizens. People who have gone to other states for education and to work in the private sector should be given the eligibility for registration of vehicles in BH series under the right to equality.
