The Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued notices to the Union Ministry of Culture and others on a PIL seeking direction to the respondents to give a religious right to Hindu community to perform prayers round the year.

The PIL also seek direction to the respondents to withdraw the permission given to the Muslim community to offer namaz on Fridays.

The PIL has challenged the ASI notification dated April 7, 2003, in this regard.

A division bench of Justices Vivek Rusia and Amarnath Kesharwani issued the notices to the respondents during hearing of the PIL in the Indore bench of MP High Court.

The Bhojshala in Dhar distrct of Madhya Pradesh is an ASI protected monument.

The Hindus worship Waghdevi (Saraswati) in the Bhojshala, while the Muslim community claims it as Kamal Maula Mosque constructed by Muslim rulers.

The petition is filed by the Hindu Front For Justice of Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) through its president  Ranjana Agnihotri and six others has demanded  the idol of Waghdevi (Goddess saraswati), which is kept in a museum in London, United Kingdom, be brought back to India and re-install in the Bhojshala premises as per the Hindus religious sentiments.

The then rulers of Dhar installed the holy statue at Bhojshala in 1034 AD while the idol was removed from its place and was taken to London in 1857 by the British, the petition claimed.
