“Samvedna”, a one-day workshop on child psychology and behavior was organized on Saturday (15.07.2023) in the auditorium of the M.P. State Legal Services Authority (MPSLSA) at Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

MP High Court Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice Vivek Agarwal addressed the workshop.

Inaugurating the workshop with the lighting of the lamp Justice Vivek Agarwal expressed that the role of teachers is very important in protecting children from criminal tendencies.

Referring to William Wordsworth’s statement “Child is the father of the man”, Justice Agrawal said that children should be provided value-based education from the beginning and be guided in the right direction.

He told that the role of parents, teachers and different sections of the society should be very sensitive in understanding child psychology and behavior of children, so that all round development of children can be made.

Addressing the valedictory session of the workshop, Justice Sujoy Paul, expressed concern over the unprecedented increase in atrocities against children in present time and said that the teacher should first be a parent then the teacher.

Justice Paul said that malnutrition can be not only of diet but also of values. In such a situation, along with all the stake holders working in the interest of the children, it is the important responsibility of us parents to meaningfully fulfill our national responsibility of creating a favorable environment for the safe future of the children.

On this occasion, M.P. State Legal Services Authority, member secretary Rajiv Karmahe informed about the objectives and framework of the workshop and said that at present we all have to understand the psychology of such children who may inclined or who are prone to crime or drugs and should counsel them.

This workshop is based on how teachers and parents should understand and diagnose the initial symptoms of such children so that their future can be secured, he said.

Child psychologist and motivational speaker Kapil Khandelwal expressed that in the changing social environment & in the current scenario, we should not ignore the aspect of psychological problems and abnormality in children and adolescents and emphasized the need to take corrective initiatives through constructive activities with sensitivity.

Retired Assistant Professor, Dr. Kiranbala Khare giving a speech on the important role of teachers and parents in identifying and diagnosing child psychological issues, gave detailed information to the participants on the sources and methods of Indian philosophy and psychology in relation to mental development of children through interesting examples.

While expressing views on the importance of human values in family, education and child care institutions, Assistant Professor Dr. Punita Upadhyay, expressed her views on human values like love, truth, religion, peace and non-violence and encouraged the role of parents and teachers in the all-round development of children.

In the said workshop, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Alok Awasthi and other judicial officers, Principals, Vice-principals, Teachers, Panel Advocates, Para Legal Volunteers, Representatives of the Women and Child Development Department, District Legal Aid Officers, etc. were present.

 The programme was conducted by MPSLSA deputy secretary Swapnashree Singh and MPSLSA additional secretary Manoj Kumar Singh proposed vote of thanks.
