Melbourne: Indian hopes are alive in the Australian Open. India’s Rohan Bopanna and Hungary’s Tamia Babos entered the semi-finals of mixed doubles category of the Australian Open by defeating Juan Sebastian Kabad of Colombia and Abigail Spears of America in straight sets. The fifth-seeded Indo-Hungarian pair took one hour and 15 minutes to beat Kabad-Spears 6-4, 7-6 in the quarter-finals.

It was a very challenging match because Bopanna and Babos had to struggle to win. Rather, the speed to convert Kabbal and Spears to Break points was better, who converted three out of seven, while Bopanna and Babos recorded 4-12. But Bopanna and Babos remain vigilant throughout the match, both of whom were successful in the first and second semester.

Nadal out for three weeks
In the end, the Indo-Hungarian pair raised 78 points compared to 68 of their rivals. Bopanna and Babos will now face the winner of the quarter-finals between the Australian pair of Storm Sanders and Mark Polman’s and the Spanish-Brazilian duo of Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez and Marcelo Demolinar in the semi-finals.

Rafael Nadal of Spain will stay away from the court for three weeks because of problems in the right leg muscles. This information was given by Nadal on Wednesday. Due to this injury, Nadal withdrew his name from the fifth set of the Australian Open quarter-finals. According to the news agency Efe, 31-year-old Nadal wrote on Facebook that the MRI scan detected the condition of the injury.

The 16-time Grand Slam winner Nadal said, “The retirement of the Grand Slam Tournament quarter-finals suffers much, injury is not very serious, I will rest for the next few days and do the physiotherapy.” The 10-time French Open champion made it clear that this injury would not prevent them from taking part in the Acapulco Open, Indian Wells and Miami Open.
