Several districts in Odisha may get heavy to very severe rainfall for the next five days. Till August 1, due to a low-pressure region that has formed over the North Bay of Bengal and its surroundings, according to the IMD.

“Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over North Bay of Bengal & neighborhood, a Low-Pressure Area has formed over the same area today morning. Now it persists over the same area with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to mid-tropospheric levels,” the IMD’s Bhubaneswar center said in its mid-day weather bulletin.

“The system is very likely to become a well-marked low-pressure area over North Bay of Bengal & adjoining Bangladesh during next 24 hours and slowly move westwards across West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar during subsequent 48 hours,” the weather bulletin added.

According to the report, light to moderate rain or severe thunderstorms has occurred in several locations. That includes the districts of south interior Odisha, as well as a few locations across the other districts of Odisha.

Starting today, the Met department has issued a yellow alert for various regions for the next five days. In the last 24 hours, heavy rain is anticipated in one or two areas in the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara Jagatsinghpur, and Cuttack.

Similarly, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to fall in one or two locations across the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur, and heavy rainfall is very likely to fall in one or two locations across the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara Cuttack, Puri, Khurda, and Sambalpur today.

Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected in one or two locations across the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj, and heavy rainfall is expected in one or two locations across the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, and Sonepur tomorrow.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely in one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Sundargarh A heavy rainfall is very likely in one or two places over the districts of Angul, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Sonepur, and Mayurbhanj, according to the IMD.

Furthermore, heavy rain is expected in one or two locations in the districts of Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Balasore, and Bargarh. Fishermen are advised not to enter into the deep waters of the northeast Bay of Bengal today, and along off the coast of Odisha. The North Bay of Bengal, and the surrounding region is on high alert between July 28 and July 30, 2021.
